edition is packed full of positive action being taken
at a local level, but our two main cover stories (see
left) reflect national issues that are threatening
our services.
Young people have always
been at the top of the local agenda. Groups and organisations
have worked hard for years through the BCAF Children
and Young People’s Group, but we will always depend
on city-wide organisations.
The shift of these services
out of direct Council control is Government policy but
lack of finances mean they struggle just to keep going.
New Deal risks propping them up instead of adding the
extra help our young people deserve, growing up in one
of Sheffield’s most deprived neighbourhoods. |
