Burngreave Celebrates Learning

Festival of Learning – Saturday 15th May

Inside and outside the Furnival on Verdon Street

9.30–11am
Children’s workshops at the Cornerstone Centre and at St James’ Church, making musical instruments and carnival decorations.

11am
“Music snakes” with live bands will act as walking buses from the two centres to Verdon Street. Families can join in the fun along the way.

Route 1: St James’ Church > Abbeyfield Road > Burngreave Road > Christchurch Road > Nottingham Street > Rock Street > Verdon Street.

Route 2: Cornerstone Centre > Sedan Street > Lyons Road > Ellesmere Road > Thorpe Road > Bressingham Road > Burngreave Road > Brunswick Road > Spital Street > Verdon Street.

From 11am
At Verdon Street there will be live music playing, food, sports activities for all the family and craft stalls.

Try some of the free workshops and taster sessions in crafts, singing, local history, aromatherapy, creative writing and making an art installation.

You can also pick up your copy of the Burngreave Learner with all the learning opportunities for the summer and autumn inside.

Activities will include Arabic dancing, aromatherapy and herbalism, massage, healthy foods from different cultures, nail art, facials, hair braiding and a fashion show. Open to women learners from Byron Wood, Pye Bank, Fir Vale and Parkwood High schools.
