Donovan
St Hugh Modest – Executive Director
Donovan Modest brings a wealth of experience
of working in non-profit organisations to the post of
Executive Director of BCAT.
On arrival from Jamaica in 1969 Donovan grew up at
36 Abbeyfield Road and attended Hinde House Comprehensive
School in the early 70s, before going on to the University
of Huddersfield and Sheffield Hallam University.
Starting his career at Ashlow Steel and Engineering
Company Ltd, a subsidiary of Bridon Wire, he then went
on to British Steel Corporation, Sheffield City Council
and Onyx Sheffield. There he worked in a variety of
roles from Management Accounts, Financial Accounts,
Policy Officer and Community Development issues. Donovan
joined BCAT in 2002 as Senior Development Worker –
Capacity Building.
Donovan has spent over ten years working on community
development issues serving on a number of Voluntary
Sector Boards. He was instrumental in the setting up
of the former ACE Centre, now SYAC and Black Card.
His role as Executive Director is to manage the day-to-day
operations and to develop new opportunities for BCAT.
