Cutting out anti-social behaviour

Anti-social behaviour - ranging from serious acts of violence and harassment, to more 'everyday' incidents like noise nuisance - causes real misery for people who just want to get on with their lives.

In an effort to cut anti-social behaviour in Burngreave, a new Anti-Social Behaviour Team has now been recruited. The five-strong team will investigate all complaints of anti-social behaviour reported to them. Unlike in other areas of the city, the BNDfC team will work with all property types, including council, private rented accommodation, owner occupied and Housing Associations.

Team Leader Wendy Barlow says she and her team are looking forward to working with the local community to reduce this kind of problem:

"We believe that people should be able to enjoy peace and quiet in their own home and feel safe and secure in the area they live. We'll be working closely with other professionals to try and resolve any problems, but if there are things we can't sort out, we will either inform the person reporting the problem or refer the case to an agency which may be more suitable.

"If you are suffering anti-social behaviour/neighbour nuisance please contact us, either by calling into the Burngreave Housing Office on Spital Hill or ringing us on 2039486. Shortly you will also be able to contact us online as well."

Look out in future issues of the Messenger for how to contact us online and for updates on progress.
