Summer Fund

The successful trip to Skegness on 16th August (see Burngreave Goes To Skegness for full report) was just one of a number of initiatives supported by BNDfC’s Summer Fund – a grant fund totalling £25,000 to support activities taking place in the NDC area during August and September.

Other initiatives which received money included the Somali Young People’s Association who were awarded £1,549 to run summer football sessions for Somali young people; Burngreave Problembusters who received £1,180 to fund a day trip to London for women from the BNDfC area; Ellesmere Children’s Centre who received £480 to run a trip to Scarborough and a number of craft and sports days; Ellesmere Tenants’ and Residents’ Association who were awarded £585 to support a day trip for the Somali community; St Peter’s Church which received £425 to put on a Bank Holiday Fun Day, and the Yemeni Community Association which received £5,249 for a series of summer activities.

Some money is still available for local groups – but hurry. All activities funded through the Summer Fund must be completed by the 30th September. Application forms are available from BNDfC at 12–14 Burngreave Road.
