BNDfC’s
New Chair
You
may know me as one of your community representatives on the New
Deal Partnership Board and I’d like to let you know that in
August the Board voted me in as Chair.
It’s good
news that we now have a community representative as Chair but I
am also aware of the serious responsibility and personal commitment
required in this role as demonstrated by the previous Chairs –
Muhammad Iqbal and Steve Jones. As Chair I have the extra support
of the Executive Director John Clark and the Executive sub group
– Partnership Board members Levi Ferguson and Muna Taha (community
reps) and Andy Buck (North Sheffield Primary Care Trust) and Joanne
Roney (Sheffield City Council).
You may be wondering
whether New Deal will ever get going and make a difference for people
in Burngreave. In spite of all the hard work gone in to date, there
is still so much to be done to make this programme work for us.
The signs are beginning to show as you can see on these pages and
opportunities and services to residents are starting to come forward.
Also, we are working to bring New Deal back into the Burngreave
community - by what we do, and how and where we do it. Things like
posting the Partnership Board minutes in the library; an office
base on Burngreave Road; organising community surgeries and eventually
a walk-in New Deal shop front; clear information on how to get involved
and how to influence; an inclusive community election process……
I will report
back to you regularly through these pages and I will do my best
to work with the Board, the staff team and of course the wider community
to try and ensure that Burngreave gets a Good Deal!
Rose Ardron,
Chair
