Empowering people into work
BNDfC is funding a new scheme to give
people in Burngreave who are out of work the opportunity to
increase their skills and gain employment.
In conjunction with Sheffield City Council’s
Employment Unit and the Learning and Skills Council, the ‘Burngreave
Apprenticeship for all’ programme is expected to be
rolled out by July.
The scheme aims to give local people access
to city-wide employment opportunities through apprenticeship
roles which will lead to skills development and permanent
employment. It will work by targeting specific job opportunities
in industries or sectors that are considered to be economic
high growth areas where there is a definite skills gap. This
will create avenues for people to acquire skills so they can
compete favourably in the labour market.
This flagship initiative will be open to everyone
in the New Deal area of employable age, and is expected to
assist over 200 people into employment.
Watch out for the launch of this scheme over
the coming months or ring Trywell Kalyata at BNDfC on 292
2907.
