Verdon Recreation Centre is a long established facility in the heart of Burngreave. It is currently used for a wide variety of activities and is a key resource to the local community. External funding has successfully been secured through BNDfC to contribute towards refurbishment of the centre, together with development of its role to provide a quality training venue and a facility to take part in sport and physical activities in the community. This project is partly funded through Burngreave New Deal for Communities but would be line managed by Sport & Community Recreation.

Verdon Recreation Centre – Development Officer

Grade/Salary: Fixed salary SCP 26 – £19,185 pro rata, 18.5 Hours (Temporary 3 year contract)

The Development Officer will be responsible for project management of the Centre’s refurbishment, development of sports training/coaching courses, line management of the administration officer, developing a new strategic direction for the Centre’s activities, making the Centre part of a network of complementing local facilities and facilitating the return of the Centre to community management. Candidates will therefore need suitable project management experience, experience of managing a community facility and excellent communication and organisational skills.

Verdon Recreation Centre – Administration Officer

Grade/Salary Fixed salary SCP 18 – £14,817,
37 Hours (Temporary 3 year contract)

The admin officer will be responsible for the day to day operation of the Centre including taking bookings, setting up the facility for events and liasing with user groups. Candidates will therefore require office and facility administration experience, have good communication and organisational skills and be available for flexible working hours, which will include evenings and weekends.
