Burngreave Children's Festive
Party Success
by Rob Smith
Razzle dazzle. Although without snow,
there was no end to the flow of young and junior
members of our community descending on Verdon
Recreation Centre on Monday 29th December.
By 2pm a bouncy castle became the main draw alongside
the Saturday Club, Cassie Limb's local actors
and a magical magician. The main children's entertainment
had begun! All the noise of shouts and laughter
were a sign of a full turnout by up to three hundred
young children and families.
The arrival of food came courtesy of Ellesmere
Bakery and the Children's Festive Party was in
full swing, just in time for the arrival of Steve
Cooke and Dorrett Buckley-Greaves, this year’s
gift bearers.
7pm saw arrival of those aged between 12 and
19. DJ Chill Out, the Apollo performance winners,
and Aisha Special K along with our local Connexions
team took control of the second event.
Music, hot food, dancing, prizes and competitions,
were complemented by speed garage and a spurt
of entertainment from the local youths towards
the end.
Burngreave’s 2nd annual
Children's Festive Party success was made possible
due to financial sponsorship from BNDfC, Sure
Start, Connexions, BCAT, BNDfC Police and Sheffield
Voluntary Action Team. Alongside organisational
support from BNDfC Engagement Team, Cassie Limb
& Local actors, Connexions Youth Service Team,
The Saturday Club, Sure Start Staff, Burngreave
Community Wardens, Burngreave Sports Network,
Burngreave Drugs Project, Burngreave Problem Busters,
Burngreave Messenger, Burngreave Sports Development
Team, The Furnival and all those local community
volunteers.
