Festive Fun!

BNDfC will be funding some festive fun for all children attending primary schools in the Burngreave New Deal for Communities area, with every child receiving a £10 book voucher and the chance to go with their school on a theatre trip to see the magical pantomime Aladdin.

BNDfC have invited Waterstones to come to Burngreave and hold book fairs so parents and teachers can support children to choose their books. Hot favourites with local children last year were JK Rowlings’ Harry Potter and books by Jacqueline Wilson! Waterstones have generously agreed to provide a discount this year.

All festive fun activities are optional for both schools and children. Following feedback from parents last year, nothing will be directly mailed to residents’ homes – all arrangements will be made through local schools who are participating in this scheme.

BNDfC Chief Executive John Clark said he was delighted to be offering these opportunities to children in the BNDfC area for the second year running:

“Education is a gift that local children should be able to experience in its widest sense. An exciting trip to a theatre and owning a favourite book makes school special for local children.”

Happy Reading! From Burngreave New Deal for Communities. “Read your way – through each day!” - 1: Read the back of the cereal packet! 2: Read books at break times with your friends! 3: Read along with teacher at story time! 4: Books at bathtime! 5: Books at bedtime!
