Out and about with New Deal!

The Burngreave New Deal for Communities team will be out and about even more in the new year – with the opening of the New Deal Information Shop on Burngreave Road Spital Hill, between the Spital Chippy and SR Raja.

The shop is due to be open in January and will provide information about New Deal projects, how local people can benefit from them and how they can get involved in developing new projects that will improve Burngreave for everyone who lives here.

The shop will also provide a venue for information surgeries where local people can meet and discuss issues with New Deal Board Members and Theme Managers.

BNDfC is also buying an information and communications vehicle which will be used by the BNDfC Community Engagement Team to get out and about in the community, listening to local peoples view and ensuring they are taken account of in the development of future projects.

The company making the vehicle, VIPEX, will work closely with BNDfC on the design of the vehicle so that it can be used for the activities that were identified by the community when they approved its purchase.

These include Crime and Safety initiatives, health promotion events, a mobile stage with sound system, but it could also be used as a meeting room, training venue and perhaps as a mobile crèche.

There will also be an opportunity for local people, including schools, to be involved in designing the artwork for exterior of the vehicle.

If you have any ideas for the use of this valuable asset for Burngreave or ideas for decorating the vehicle, please contact Carol Anderson, BNDfC Community Engagement Team, Tel. 2920460.
