Church on the move…
by Huw Thomas

Building work has forced the congregation of Christchurch, Pitsmoor, out of their pews, so for three months they will be meeting in the community centre at the back of the church.

Vicar Martyn Snow is excited about the changes, calling it "A major building project to adapt the church for the needs of the 21st century. This includes adding disabled access, creating more open space, rooms for young people and facilities for showing videos and computer presentations".

Meetings will continue at their usual times but there will need to be some adjustments. Children and adults who used to meet in separate groups will be joining together. Again, Rev Snow sees the plus side, commenting "Services will be shorter and more interactive, with lots more food, drink and socialising. It’s part of discovering what the church needs to be to connect with the real concerns and interests of the people of Pitsmoor". New staff will also be joining the church in the new year to work in the wider community.
