Safer
Burngreave
Burngreave is becoming a safer
place for householders, thanks to the Safer Homes Scheme, funded
through Burngreave New Deal for Communities and delivered by Sheffield
City Council’s Estate Management Unit.
Since February 2003, 1,500 households in the area have been contacted
and offered security advice – and so far, 250 have had security
work done, over 400 smoke alarm have been installed and 209 have
had burglar alarms fitted.
So far the scheme is proving to be popular, and it will be spreading
throughout the New Deal area over the next two and a half years
with all residents being offered both security packages. This will
happen in a programmed approach and all homes will be contacted
in due course.
