Osgathorpe Park
Jam
by Rob Smith
On 3rd August I arrived to a warm
sun rising over Osgathorpe Park, and watched as others
set up stalls to serve food, drinks, sell goods and
display information.
In the sweltering midday heat two large
bouncy castles were inflated, and the music being pumped
out by Unitone Hi Power drew together the community
crowd. Scrape ice became the order of the day, as over
six hundred community members and children gathered
to celebrate this year’s abundance of summer sunshine.
Pitsmoor Adventure Playground came with
the buckin’ bronco and grass slides. The BSN Sports
Development Team were there, and put on a tug of war,
football and many other family games.
I saw hair braiding, face painting, dancing
and laughing. “It’s another lovely day to
remember”, declared Rose Ardron, Chair of BNDfC
Partnership Board. “I can’t get over this,
it is lovely” said John Clark, BNDfC Director.
“It has a community feel to it”. For this
a special thanks goes out to Aisha Special K and the
Problem Busters organisation, whose initiation of the
event has meant this year’s Osgathorpe Jam has
grown in popularity, establishing itself firmly on Burngreave’s
summer calendar of events not to miss.
