| Summer School is a big hit
by Rob Smith
Verdon Recreation Centre hosted part of the
Sheffield Multiple Heritage Service music and dance
summer school during August. Around 25 young people
from various parts of the city have been involved in
DJ-ing, poetry, rapping, street dancing, singing and
drumming over a two-week period, and a video and CD
have been produced to capture the progress made by the
participants, which was set up by Stage Works.
The two week event was organised by Simon Barth, Ruth
McDonald, Fiona Miller, Sam Brand and Karen Minors.
With support and dedication from the mentors Paul Johnson,
Dani Joof, Chris White, Jason Brand and John Pitt.
Funded by the Government’s Children’s Fund
at the Verdon Recreation Centre, SADACCA and other parts
of the city.
