For over twenty years Mr N Khan has been serving the residents and people who live in and around Scott Road, so paying a visit to his establishment was surely on the cards. Selling all sorts of sweets and confectioneries, Mr Kahn’s store is also well established as a continental food outlet and halal meat butchers. Catering for local Pakistani and other diverse communities’ tastes in foods, Mr N Khan is proud to be recognised as always presenting a clean and friendly service to the community he serves.

On 28th February this year the Sportsman public house, situated at the top of Barnsley Road, was proud to announce coming under new management. My introduction was to a lady called Edwina Christian. With satellite TV screens and serving hot food daily, Edwina explains how she’s always fighting to keep her beer prices down. Formerly manager of the Corner Pin on Carlisle Street, she bids a warm and friendly welcome to all. “Many of my old regulars have followed me here and are now frequenting The Sportsman.” With a large car park and outside seating, future plans include building a children’s play area. Now under new management The Sportsman public house can proudly boast of being a warm and friendly place to chill.
