| The
Sheffield Black Drugs Service is an outreach service that aims to
respond to the needs of problematic drug users in Black and Minority
Ethnic Communities, their families and carers, by promoting harm
minimisation, good health and safer communities through a culturally
sensitive quality service.
We
are currently seeking highly motivated and committed individuals
to work in the following posts:
DRUGS
OUTREACH WORKER (FEMALE)
Part
time 18.5hrs (NJC Scale 23-27 starting salary £16,851 pro
rata). Pay award pending.
To
co-ordinate and provide a range of drugs services to Black &
minority ethnic communities with the aim of lessening the impact
of drug problems in the community and empowering the community's
ability to deal with drug misuse themselves.
To
maintain a small client caseload and prepare comprehensive and holistic
care plans. To work with female clients when specific cultural needs
and/or where a client choice of worker issue arises. To develop
and deliver education and training packages. The ideal candidate
will have experience of counselling or advice work in a community
setting and delivering education sessions.
Female
applicants only, this is a Genuine Occupational Qualification. Section
7 (2) (b) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 applies.
SESSIONAL
WORKERS
Up
to £10 per hour (lower rates may apply for certain work e.g.
assembling materials. Hours variable, may include weekdays, evenings
and weekends).
We
are recruiting a number of sessional workers to carry out sessions
related to drug education work with BME communities.
- Work may
include:
- Promotion
of the Service,
- Developing,
preparing, delivering and evaluating drug education programmes,
- Information
stalls/events,
- Surveys &
community based research.
All
candidates will need to demonstrate relevant experience of work
with BME communities. An ability to communicate in one or more
relevant community languages in addition to English would be
helpful.
The posts are located within an innovative organisation, committed
to partnership working and improving services for BME communities.
We particularly welcome applicants from the members of the Pakistani,
Bangladeshi, Somali, African-Caribbean and Yemeni communities
as they are under represented in this area of work. (Section
38 (1)(b) of the Race Relations Act 1976 applies).
