Her
Presence in Colours
Burngreave
was privileged recently to host the 'Her Presence in Colours' exhibition
at the Clock Tower gallery in the Northern General. The exhibition
featured contributions from women artists all over the world, including
a number from Burngreave.
Many who have
seen the exhibition have commented how uplifting and accessible
the paintings and artwork were. The exhibition's sustainable environment
theme was taken up by Burngreave artist Krysia Zajac's photomontage
around the theme of recycling and the Messenger's own Lisa
Swift, who turned an old desk and a pile of paper into a comfy chair.
Other Burngreave
artists contributing included Liz Bradshaw, Cassandra Limb, Panni
Loh, Gemma and Sophie Slack, Liz Mackenzie (pictured bottom left),
Nuala Price and Gulzar Iqbal's woven craftwork, pictured bottom
right.
The exhibition
was preceded by a week of activity including gallery visits and
a conference bringing artists from Burngreave and different countries
together to share knowledge and experience.
The event is
a credit to the organiser Panni Loh.
