Area Panel

BURNGREAVE
IN BLOOM
As you will remember we want to plant thousands of bulbs to create
a blaze of colour in Burngreave next Spring. We have now joined
up with Burngreave New Deal’s Urban Forest project who are
wanting to help plant new trees in Burngreave
We need your
help to:
- say where
in Burngreave you think we could plant bulbs and trees.
- get involved
in planting the bulbs and trees.
If you, or a
group you are part of, have some ideas or want to take part then
contact Stuart Bolton to find out more.
SEEING
RED, AMBER AND GREEN
Forty two people signed a petition asking for a safer road crossing
outside Firshill School and traffic lights at Scott Road and Barnsley
Road junction. At the moment the Highways department do not want
to put traffic lights in. Your Area Panel has spoken to the Highways
department and told them to put together plans for you to have a
look at and then say what you think should happen. At the moment
the new plans are being drawn up and when they are ready we will
bring them to your Area Panel meeting so you can have your say.
BRING
OUT YOUR RUBBISH
You have got three Bring Out Your Rubbish days in Burngreave this
year and these are a chance for you to get rid of those big bits
of rubbish for free. Your Area Panel has chosen three areas of Burngreave
that have not had a Bring Out Your Rubbish day yet and these are:
- Whiteways
- 3rd October 2002
- Fir Vale
(Ellerton and Vickers Rd area) - 9th October 2002
- Burngreave
(Maxwell and Buckenham St area) - 10th October 2002
If you are getting
a Bring Out Your Rubbish day Green City Action you will be getting
a leaflet through your door which will tell you more about it and
what you need to do on the day. Finally, a big thank you to Green
City Action and the different Tenants and Residents Association’s
who deliver the leaflets each year and have helped to make these
days so successful.
IS IT
SAFER?
As you know your Area Panel worked with Highways on the new road
safety scheme that now covers a lot of Burngreave. All the building
is now finished and we hope that you find the roads safer. This
was a big bit of work and it came from your requests to improve
road safety in Burngreave. A lot of your comments helped Highways
to plan the scheme and we hope you are happy with it. Now it is
finished we would like to have any your thoughts on the improvements.
You can do this by contacting your Councillors or me and we will
pass them on to the Highways department.
