Sheffield City Council is establishing a specialist
Community Homefinders Team to provide advice and assistance to black
and minority ethnic and vulnerable people applying for Council housing.
The key duties of the team will involve:
- Networking within communities to establish
links with local groups
- Support to help integrate vulnerable applicants
into communities
- Provision of advice relating to Housing and Homeless
policies and procedures
- General support throughout the Housing process
from offer of a property to signing for the tenancy
National and our own local information have shown
that vulnerable and in particular BME clients are often the most
deprived in our society and are more likely to live in unpopular
and overcrowded conditions.
We are looking for enthusiastic people with a flexible
approach who can work as part of a team or individually to achieve
challenging targets. The successful candidates should have an understanding
of the resettlement needs of vulnerable but specifically BME applicants.
Each of the following languages are an essential
requirement and must be spoken by at least one of the successful
candidates:
Full-time contracts – Sorani and French
Part-time contracts – Arabic and Portuguese
We particularly welcome applications from ethnic
minority communities and disabled people as they are under-represented
in this area of work: Section 38(1)b of the Race Relations Act 1976
applies.
Informal enquiries please contact Jo Radcliffe, tel
273 5615.
Application forms and further details for
the above post are available from Human Resources Section, Housing
Services, PO Box 1918, Sheffield S1 2XX, tel 273 4871. Please quote
post ref H930.
Closing date 24th December at 12 noon.
