Initially to March 2004, expected to be extended to March 2006 when
funding is confirmed.
The Area Family Support Post is funded by Neighbourhood
Renewal and Burngreave New Deal and will join 8 other officers in
other corporate areas to provide:
- Early intervention and preventative support for
families
- Packages of support for families deploying locally
recruited Home Visitors and other voluntary, community and statutory
sector services
- Support for Voluntary and Community Sector Groups
providing family support
- Formal qualifications are not a prerequisite, but
applicants should have a sound grasp of issues facing vulnerable
children and their families, and extensive experience working
with children, young people and families.
The post is subject to a City Council Achieving Change
process at the moment and may involve some out of hours duty, for
which additional increments will be paid. It is also expected that
the service will transfer to Social Services Directorate as part
of this process.
