Ellesmere
Children's Centre
by Gaby Spinks
The
Multicultural Festive Party, held in February, is a yearly event
in the life of Ellesmere Children's Centre. But this year it was
bigger and better.
Sharon Curtis
explained it was a 'holistic celebration of the people of Burngreave.
It incorporated Christmas, Eid, Divali, Chinese New Year and other
celebrations into a family event involving the Centre and its work'.
Activities included
African drumming and belly dancing workshops, Indian head massages,
juggling, face painting, demonstrations of Irish music and Salsa
dancing.
There was superb
food from Asia, Somalia and the Caribbean, being eaten to the dulcet
sounds of a steel band. A local gospel choir rounded off the evening
in splendid style.
