| Pride
for hair and beauty has been opened two months explains Adam Usef,
“already we have recognised a need to cater for local Muslim
women”. PRIDE are being fully supported by SCEDU and their business
advisor Walter Mswaka, who explained how they are helping PRIDE to
set up a business enterprise. Presently catering for Muslim men attended
by a bilingual barber fluent in French, Arabic, Algerian and very,
very little English, “We will soon be catering for the women.”
Adam explained;. “There shall be a private entrance for women
only, and a prayer room for women only". He went on to tell me
that they have employed a woman from Morocco who can do Henna Mendi
and cater for Eid as well as weddings and other private functions.
I also had to agree this
is a very good initiative for Burngreave, having gained the support
from SCEDU, should also seek and gain support from other major sponsors
committed to drivers of change. This is Rob Smith reporting from
PRIDE in the heart of Burngreave.

The
Shop
182 Barnsley Road

| “Akbar-Al Akbar,”
made words of my childhood come straight into my head as I entered
this small modern day Aladdin’s Cave. The sweet smell hit my
nose as I entered and proprietor Mr Medi Fazani and assistant Amanda,
surprised by our visit, were glad of the interuption. The Shop has
many gifts and accessories and is now acknowledged as becoming a service
to our community. Opened only three months ago, this shop stocks and
repairs mobile phones and accessories amongst much, much more. I observed
smokers items; assortments of Rizla; lighters; tobacco tins as well
as pens; pencils and calculators; skate boards; watches and small
toys; manicure sets and hairdryers for children. So much more for
what I considered a fair score that even I purchased something, before
leaving The Shop. This is Rob Smith reporting from inside The Shop,
182 Barnsley Road, Sheffield S3. |
