Woodside:
wavy roof houses to go
All
of Woodside estate, including the distinctive wavy-roofed (or ‘upside
down’) houses, is to be demolished this autumn, following
a Sheffield City Council cabinet decision on 18 September. Although
the wavy roof houses are spacious and loved by some residents, it
would cost an estimated £65,000 to upgrade each of them.
The Messenger
has heard that the whole site will be grassed over, left for five
years, and then sold off to private developers. This would change
the character of Burngreave – for better or worse? Watch this
space!
