Fantastic! Now Let's Do It All Over Again.

Our Community played host to five great days of sporting events beginning on Wednesday 21st of August and ending on Sunday 2nd of September 2001.

As presiding chairman of Burngreave Sports Network alongside interim Co-ordinetor Patrick Edwards a successful sports week for us deserves no pat on the back and we humbly search for none. Alongside organisations like: Listen To Us, Problem Busters, The Arab Youth Group, Somali Youth Association and Ellesmere Youth Project our aim is to move briskly forward.

Over the coming months the Sports Network will be developing a stucture for some major representations on behalf of our community. Aiming at sports activites, facilities, provisions inclusive involvement and achievement. This organisation will primarily become an umbrella, bringing together members of existing user groups to achieve major objectives.

The future

  1. Burngreaves First Ever Sports Bank
(volley ball nets, cricket bats, goal posts hockey sticks etc.) Proposed by Listen To Us , officially sponsored by BSN
  2. Three football teams officially registered to County FA
    (Under 18s, 15s &12s)
  3. Burngreave's own official football kits and accessories

The Vision stems from Burngreave Sports Week

The five days of sporting events helped highlight the capacity we have as a community to cater for all of our young people inclusively around sporting activites. Fantastic! Now let's do it all over again

On October 22nd in the half term we are planing to put on a a SportsDay. It will be held at Earl Marshal Sports Centre and activities will include sports for boys and girls, competitions, music, prizes and refreshments. Local groups are working hard to make this another amazing day so for more details contact Patrick on:07747 831 856 and watch out for the flyers.

Dear Burngreave Messenger,

It is very encouraging to see so much summer activity and celebration in Burngreave this year including various summer play-schemes and fetes. All Saints events, the Burngreave Sports Network events and the Osgathorpe Festival. I’m pleased to see the Burngreave is really getting moving and celebrating the richness of our people. The more we organise and work together joyfully the better.
