Rights to a safe environment

Dear Editor,
I am a disabled person who moved to the Burngreave area in August 1993 with both parents and my grandmother. Recently my Father died, leaving me to take care of both my Nan and my Mother. My Nan, who is 91, struggles with mobility and therefore uses a wheelchair. My mother is also disabled, and both her and I use electronic scooters.

The reason I am writing to you is to complain about the amount of broken glass on the paths and roads in the area. In the last year alone our scooter wheels have been punctured 7 times. At £35 a time for call out and repair charges, this becomes very expensive. Only last week my Nan was taken out only to return within ten minutes with yet another flat tyre. Why oh why oh why do people have smash glass bottles everywhere?

Come on people, have some pride in your area! Burngreave has a great multicultural atmosphere, so lets work together to clean up our little piece of England, our Burngreave. Everyone has a right to live in a clean and safe environment, able bodied, disabled, old and especially young, no matter their colour or culture.

Come on Burngreave, we should all make an effort and pull our socks up!
Peace and happiness to one and all, yours sincerely, Garry Stanton.

In need of a sixth-form

Dear Editor,
I attended Firth Park School and sat 11 GSCE's. I received excellent results; A+ Urd, A-Maths, AA-Science, A-IT, B-Business Studies, B-English, B-English Literature, C-German, D-Graphics and I am one of the Burngreave residents. I am proud to be part of Burngreave community.

I believe that there should be sixth-form in Burngreave as I am having to travel into town to gain education.
Qazim Hussain
