Islam Awareness week
by Matloub Husayn-Ali-KhanIn the early years of Islam the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH), signed a pledge in Medina to live in peace with other faiths. As part of Islam awareness week The Islamic Society of Britain have written a new pledge. “British people of all faiths - and of none - reacted with horror to the events of 11 September. The unity with which all communities in Britain responded shows we have the strength in our diversity. As we now move into the longer term we all have a responsibility to maintain this strength and to promote religious understanding. Therefore, as part of Islam Awareness Week, We/I pledge to:- · work towards preserving and enhancing relations between Britain’s faith and non-faith communities; · work for greater understanding of each other’s faith and ways of life; · condemn all attacks perpetrated against people of faith and all places of worship; · celebrate the strength of Britain’s community relations and build respect and tolerance for people of religion and no religion; · avoid using language of an inflammatory nature.”Radio RamadanAfter last years success of Community Radio with Radio Ramadan and this years PCM Radio in Burngreave, the Muslim community are organising another month of Radio broadcasting to coincide with the muslim month or Ramadan with “RABTAH 107.7FM”.
