£30,000 for drugs education

The Sheffield Black Drugs Service has been granted £30,000 of £1/2 million ‘Communities Against Drugs’ Home Office funding being spent in Sheffield over the next three years. They recently completed a needs assessment in Burngreave which identified the need for culturally appropriate drugs education and information and this funding will be used to provide information and weekly education sessions for families, parents and the wider community. Donna Linehan, manager of the Black Drugs Service said ‘We work directly in and with communities, and Burngreave is an area where myths and fears around drug use are rife. We are delighted to receive this funding, which will be vital in providing communities with the confidence to tackle drug issues locally.’
