Burngreave gets smart

Burngreave has got smart after the launch of a £50,000 crime prevention scheme by Home Secretary David Blunkett.

The Brightside MP joined South Yorkshire Police, BNDfC and community representatives to mark the start of the BNDfC funded ‘SmartWater’ scheme.

Smart Water Instant is a liquid marker where each application contains a forensic fingerprint that is unique to a particular household.

Individual householders will be visited by the project team who will offer to mark property and help households register for the scheme. A leaflet will be distributed to every house by the end of June giving details.
