Burnbank TARA

by Malcolm Cumberbatch

Burnbank Tenants and Residents Association (TARA) represents a large number of households in Burngreave around the Verdon Street, Andover, Rock Street and Kilton areas.

Tenants and Residents Associations play a vital part in the City representing the views of their members, and getting the Council to improve services to their area.

The Council supports TARAs with funding and advice. However, to receive funding a TARA must meet criteria set out in the Council’s Recognition Policy. Burnbank TARA is making a big effort (with support from the Sheffield Homes and a facilitator in community consultation) to develop the TARA and meet this criteria.

During July, Burnbank TARA will hold four consultation sessions at Verdon Recreation Centre:

8th July
First session: 1–3pm.
Food served at 12.30pm.
Second session: 6.30–8.30pm.
Food available from 6pm.

14th July
First session: 10am–12 noon.
Women only.
Food available between 12 and 1pm.
Second session: 1–3pm.

Francesca Cullen, Tenant Participation Officer (Sheffield Homes) 273 6089 is the contact.

These sessions are being held to find out what you want from Burnbank TARA and who you would like to stand for positions on the committee at its AGM in August. Dates and meeting place will be announced in the next edition of the Messenger. Look out for more information.
