Advancing Together

A few months ago, Burngreave New Deal for Communities signed up to a ground-breaking agreement with Sheffield City Council, aimed at ensuring that people in Burngreave benefited from major improvements in local services.

One of the major elements of the agreement was that any services funded through New Deal would be extra services, meaning that New Deal money would not be spent on standard Council services. Services such as the new Community Wardens team and the Home Maintenance Advice and Loan Scheme would simply not be provided without New Deal funding. Other services, such as street lighting, are being improved through the New Deal money.

Many local people have already gained new jobs created through the Advancing Together agreement and improvements are starting to show. To mark the success of the agreement so far, Sheffield City Council Chief Executive Bob Kerslake made a presentation to the recent Partnership Board meeting and he and Rose Ardron, BNDfC Partnership Board Chair, formally signed up to the agreement.
