Pollution campaign

The Burngreave Community Action Forum (BCAF) Health Group has been looking at the effects of pollution in the Burngreave area.

We have tried to find out how high the pollution levels are and what the effect is on people’s health, and we’ve discovered no-one knows. There is an air quality monitoring station at Firshill School but they haven’t reported back yet. It is hoped the Environmental Protection Service will come to a meeting next year to give us this information.

The Primary Care Trust are being asked to find out how many children in our local schools have asthma. We are also working with Park Landfill Action Group to support their efforts.

Watch this space for more news.

If you have any health issues to raise come to the next Health Group meeting which is on 19th January at 5.30pm at
BCAF, 12–14 Burngreave Road, S3 9DD.
