Opportunities for asylum seekers

Home-Start Sheffield are looking for asylum seeker and refugee volunteers to help support families.

By becoming a Home-Start volunteer you will benefit from gaining an Open College Network accredited qualification, as well as the opportunity to develop your personal skills and then pass those skills on to those who need them. Free childcare is available and expenses are paid for. Home-Start supply on-going training and support upon placement with a family.

“Home-Start training is ideal for people to gain a qualification and experience in family support work. In return, you get enhanced job opportunities, a reference, make friends, build your confidence, and help families through times of difficulty,” said Nusrat Rehman, Senior Practioner for Asylum Seekers Family Support, who are working with Home-Start on the project.

The course will run 13th January – 23rd March 2004 (excluding 17th February) at the Alzheimer’s Society, Venture House, 105 Arundel Street. The course is one day a week 10am–2.15pm.
