Fireworks
Many residents are suffering again this year from nuisance
fireworks. They’re loud and dangerous and seem to get bigger
each year.
The police have told the Messenger that they will be targeting
nuisance ‘hot spots’ based on intelligence they have
received from the public. More police will be out and about between
the 27th October and 9th November, pulling officers away from their
desks and into the fray. Local shops will also be visited daily
to combat illegal sales and shop lifting.
“Fireworks will be confiscated from any one misusing them.
If young people are involved we intend to make their parents aware
of their activities, we will be recording their names and addresses
and sending letters. It’s important that they are aware of
the dangers involved,” said Adrian Fox of the New Deal Police
squad.
Adrian hopes that legislation now going through Parliament will
put a stop to the sale of the big rockets that can cause significant
damage to rubbish bins, but in the mean time report nuisance fireworks
to 220 2020, the more reports are logged the more resources Burngreave
will get next year.
