Black Drugs Service AGM
by Rob Smith

On Wednesday 22nd October workers, supporters and board trustees of Sheffield’s Black Drugs Service, gathered inside St Mary’s Church Bramall Lane, to overview the year’s works and achievements.

Mark Nagi is one of the drug outreach workers who alongside Rifat Aziz, Naeid Nabi and Aziz Muthana, do a lot of the meetings and one to one discussion with those affected by drugs.

“Our work is to go out into the community and talk to people one to one,” explained Mark. “If they have a drug problem and want to seek help, we do assessments, assuring confidentiality which is imperative. No information is passed out without a client’s consent.”

Sheffield Black Drugs Service receives many referrals from local agencies and has released a translation of a drug awareness cassette in Punjabi and Urdu. This is a major bid to get the message across to the people of many cultures now residing in this city. The South Yorkshire Urdu/Punjabi Drugs help line is a new bilingual service, which will answer your call and keep confidentiality.

If you need help and support through the trauma of life with drugs or family members taking drugs, don’t hesitate to call for help on the Urdu/Punjabi drugs help line on 275 1575 or 01709 372172, or Sheffield Black Drugs Service on 249 3700.
