A healthy success

Over 40 local people and representatives of voluntary and statutory organisations attended the launch of the Community, Health and Development Poetry Booklet this month.
The Introduction to Community Development and Health Course booklet.

The booklet was complied by learners from the Community Health and Development course, which aims to enable local people to increase their skills, confidence and self esteem.

During the launch learners read poems and performed a play, Burngreave: In Sickness and in Health in the Rainbow Vale. “It’s very inspiring to see people reading their own poetry,” said a member of the audience.

For free copies of the poetry booklet contact Chetna Patel 271 6978.

Creative Poem
by Pauline A Neita

My health is very important
My family health is we all eat well
My community health is we try to help each other
My power is to make a better place for everyone to live in
My family power is we look for one another
My community power is we stick together no matter what the situation is.
My family powerlessness is not able to reach out to family abroad, when it come to emergency.
My community powerlessness is not doing enough for the community not provide what the centre need.
My strengths are to provide for family and friends get on well with people and I always got a smile for strength.
My family strength are good living eat healthy look well be very positive a good upbringing and getting on well with others.
My community strength is provided good things for the children and family and friends have a lot of activities going on in the area.
