Reaching
out to local people
Community Development Workers Carol Anderson, Ali Abdi and
Ophelia Clarke joined the team at the end of March, along with Community
Engagement Manager Levi Ferguson who has been hard at work since
earlier this year. Admin support for the team is provided by Doug
Vick.
The
three new workers bring with them a wealth of experience, having
worked in a variety of regeneration and community engagement roles
in the past. Between them, they speak Arabic, Somali and English
– language skills which are sure to prove vital in contacting
some of the harder to reach communities living in the area.
Their
first job will be to go out, knocking on doors – raising the
profile of BNDfC and what it means for local people and most importantly,
letting people know how they can get involved.
“Our
job is to encourage involvement from the community,” said
Carol. “We’ll be working closely with people to ensure
they know how they can have a say in future developments and make
their voices heard. It will be a real challenge, but we’re
all looking forward to helping local people make the things they
want to see happen.”
The
Community Engagement Team invites you to come and meet the new team.
