How does the Area Panel work?
The City’s twelve Area Panels are part of the Council’s
political structures and the local Councillors you elect each year
to sit on your Area Panel. The Area Panel helps make the decisions
about what the Council does in Burngreave and it makes sure that
you can have your say by:
- Holding regular and special public Area Panel meetings
- Putting together on a yearly Burngreave Area Plan
- Working with people inside and outside the Council on key projects
Each part of the Council has their own ‘link officer’
who works closely with the Burngreave Area Panel. Link officers
come to Area Panel meetings to tell us what is being done, listen
to people’s views and answer your questions.
Remember to read next month’s Area Panel page to find out
about who your Area Panel members are.
Regeneration
Roundtable
Your Area Panel, Burngreave and Fir Vale Community Forums and Burngreave
New Deal for Communities are looking together at what we can do
for Burngreave.
A group called the Burngreave Regeneration Roundtable has started
meeting regularly to look at the difficult issues that we need to
work together on. These are issues like what is being done for young
people, getting the Burngreave Vestry Hall reopened and improving
childcare.
There is a lot of energy in Burngreave and although often we all
pull in the same direction, sometimes we do not all pull at the
same time. The ‘Regeneration Roundtable’ aims to get
us all pulling together and in-time. It is early days and I hope
that by the end of the year we will be able to tell you about what
has been achieved.
