Fireworks
no joke say New Deal police
by Andrew Green
An
explosion blew out the window of the New Deal police office
and embedded shrapnel in the walls inside at the beginning
of November. ‘If anyone had been inside, they would
have been killed,’ squad leader Adrian Fox told the
Messenger.
High explosive
fireworks let off dangerously have been a serious problem
this year, and the police are supporting local MP and Home
Secretary David Blunket’s move to ban the public sale
of such fireworks.
After
our front page story last month, we would like to make it
clear that the New Deal police team don’t just work
from 9 to 5. ‘We have been working up to 60 hours a
week,’ they said. ‘But we can’t be out on
the streets and in the office at the same time.’
