Firs Hill Amalgamation

The sound of running feet preceded a multicultural wave of small nursery and primary school children and marks the opening ceremony for the amalgamation of Firs Hill Nursery Infant and Junior Schools.

Stood close by along with other grown ups and parents, I could see Councillor Ibrar Hussain, who said, "this is a diverse school which represents a community that has come a very, very long way Rob."

A great cheer marks the ascending of balloons into a clear blue autumn sky. The head teacher, Dina Martin, said a few words explaining why we'd all gathered here before introducing

More balloons appear on the scene to young cheers and wows, as teachers release them to float off high up into the sky and signify the creation of Firs Hill Community Primary School.
