Women's art comes to Burngreave
Art
from women all over the world will be exhibited from the 23rd
August to October 4th, Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, at the
Clock Tower Gallery at Northern General Hospital. Women artists
from Australia, China, Iceland, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia
and USA have contributed to ‘Her Presence in Colours
V’ exhibition including nine artists from Burngreave.
Local women, Cassandra Limb, Gemma Mei Wah
Slack, Gulzar Iqbal, Krysia Zajac, Lisa Swift, Liz Bradshaw,
Liz Mackenzie, Nuala Price, Panni P.Y.Loh and Sophie Mei Wah
Slack have produce work for the exhibition including paintings,
sculpture, textiles and manipulated photography based around
the theme of ‘Women’s art towards a sustainable
environment’.
There will also be work by girls from schools
all over Sheffield, including girls from Fir Vale Senior School
and Cora Norman who is home educated in Burngreave, displayed
in the Gallery dinning room .
A conference
is also being held at the Medical Education Centre on the
23rd August 10am- 4pm. Speakers will include Yuen Chee Ling
the founder of ‘Her Presence in Colours’ who has
organised over 100 arts and culture events, and Judy Ling
Wong, director of the Black Environment Network. The day will
include workshops on women’s art, public arts, arts
and health and art and the environment. If you would like
