Another
Wonderful Day!
The sun shone on this years Abbeyfield Multicultural Festival.
Thank
you once again
I
would like to express my warm thanks to all the diverse peoples
of Burngreave who made the fourth ‘Abbeyfield Park Multicultural
Festival’ a huge success. It is a truly multicultural
event where all cultures are equally valid. We can all be
proud as we share and celebrate our diversity which makes
me glad to live in Burngreave.
The festival
celebrated over 10 different ethnic groups, local infant,
junior and senior schools, after school clubs and young people’s
groups, environmental groups, arts and circus groups, 7th
day Adventists, Christian Churches/groups, Islamic groups,
Interfaith, local community groups and health organisations,
women’s groups, education and funding organisations
and many more in 7 hours of mainstage entertainment, workshops
and over 80 stalls.
Special
thanks go to Lee Furness in his support as Manager of Green
City Action for 7 years and to Dawn Jones and Tina Smith,
also the Green City Action Management Committee who undertook
many varied tasks from serving fair trade refreshments, health
and safety inspection, managing stall holders to cleaning
the toilets!
Thank
you also to all the volunteers, especially the first aiders,
BTCV litter pickers and site volunteers.
Thank you once
again to everyone who took part and to our funders Burngreave
New Deal for Communities, Sheffield City Council and Awards
for All.
